Skin care in Decatur
Valarie Goodson is a licensed esthetician with a private studio near Decatur Square. She starts with a conversation and daylight, plans each visit around how your skin behaves, and takes a peel slowly. Valarie is taking new clients.

The studio
Cacao is a single treatment room on Clairemont Avenue, a short walk from the square. Valarie works alone, so your visit is never shared and never rushed.
She looks at your skin by the window before any product touches it.
What she saw and what she suggests, written down, so you can ask for a copy.
We can tell you every ingredient we use.

Book: Express facialValarie goes through your skin and how it has reacted before, places a small patch test and tells you what to watch for. No peel is done.
A light, superficial peel, planned with you and applied only after a patch test has gone well. Sun notes come with it.
A peel is booked only after a consultation and a patch test. Peels are booked one visit at a time, a few weeks apart.
Every visit includes a few minutes to talk and settle in.
How we plan a peel
Skin with deeper tones can react to a peel in its own way, so nothing is rushed and nothing is done at a first visit without a plan.

You talk through your routine, how your skin has reacted to products before and how much time you spend in the sun. Valarie looks at your skin by the window and writes down what she notes. No peel is done at this visit.

A small amount of the peel goes on a quiet spot, usually behind the ear. You watch it for a few days at home, and you tell Valarie how it went before a peel is booked.

Before and after a peel your skin needs shade and daily sunscreen. Valarie writes down what to pause, what to wear outdoors and when to call her.
Your esthetician

Licensed esthetician
Valarie works one client at a time and keeps a short written note of every visit, so the next one starts from what she saw and not from memory. She speaks English, and she'll tell you plainly when something is outside what she does and a dermatologist is the right next step.
Kind words
“She asked more about my skin in the first half hour than anyone has in years. The peel plan was written down, and I knew every step before we began.”
“The patch test and the sun notes are why I trust her. I never felt pushed toward something I hadn't thought about.”
“A quiet room, warm towels and no hurry. She tells you what she's about to do before she does it.”
