Peels

How we plan a peel for deeper skin tones

A light peel is never the first thing that happens. These are the four steps, in order, and you can stop after any of them.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Consultation

A conversation and a look at your skin by the window. Valarie writes down what she notes, and no peel is done.

    • Your routine and the products you use now

    • How your skin has reacted to products or a peel before

    • How much time you spend in the sun

    • What you'd like from the visit

  2. 02

    Step 2: Patch test

A small amount of the peel goes on a quiet spot, such as behind the ear or along the jaw.

    • A few days at home to watch it

    • You tell Valarie how it went

    • A peel is booked only after it has gone well

  3. 03

    Step 3: The light peel

A light, superficial peel, timed by what Valarie sees and not by the clock alone.

    • Cool towels and a calming mask afterward

    • A written note of what she saw

    • The next visit booked a few weeks on, one at a time

  4. 04

    Step 4: Sun notes

Written down before you leave, so you have them at home.

    • Shade and a hat on the days after

    • Sunscreen every day, and the kind Valarie suggests

    • What to pause at home, and when to call her

Before you book

When we suggest a doctor first

Ask your doctor before booking a peel if any of these is true. Valarie may suggest the same at your consultation.

  • You are pregnant or nursing

Ask your doctor first, and tell Valarie at booking so she can plan a facial instead.

  • You use a prescription skin medicine

Ask the doctor who prescribed it whether to pause it before a peel.

  • A doctor is managing a skin condition

Valarie works alongside your doctor's advice, never in place of it.

  • Your skin is sore or broken

Tell us at booking. Valarie may suggest waiting, or a dermatologist.

Questions

About peels

Will I have a peel at my first visit?

No. A first visit is a consultation, with a facial if you'd like one. A peel comes later, after a patch test has gone well.

How long between peels?

A few weeks. Valarie books each peel one visit at a time and decides the gap from how your skin has been.

What if the patch test doesn't go well?

Tell us. Valarie won't book a peel, and she may suggest seeing a dermatologist. A facial is still on the menu.

Do I need to stop anything at home first?

Possibly. Valarie tells you what to pause, and for how long, when you book your consultation and again before the peel.

Book a peel consultation

Thirty minutes to plan, with no peel done. You decide what comes next.
